Model variables that represent choices to be made, such as reservoir releases, generation levels or new plant capacities.
Decision variables are the quantities the optimisation algorithm is allowed to change in order to improve the objective function. In PWSC style models they may describe hourly or daily generation levels, reservoir release rates, investment in new units or switching between operating regimes.
