Ethiopian utility for which PWSC helped develop and apply national generation and transmission master plans.
Between 2012 and 2014 PWSC contributed to the World Bank funded Electricity Generation and Transmission Masterplan for Ethiopia. Work included constructing AQUARIUS models of existing and potential generation systems, estimating hydro plant capacity and energy as a function of hydrological condition and feeding this into expansion procedures. Program EPSIM was used to evaluate alternative long-term expansion plans out to 2037, with explicit representation of wind, biomass and solar plant capabilities. PWSC also trained EEPCO staff in the use of both AQUARIUS and EPSIM so that the tools could be applied in-house.
