Intergovernmental river basin organisation for which PWSC undertook basin hydropower expansion studies.
For the Mekong River Commission PWSC contributed to the Se Kong–Se San and Nam Theun River Basins Hydropower Study in 1997–1998. Using least-cost expansion planning techniques, alternative river basin development options were evaluated to meet forecast regional power demands and potential exports to Thailand, Cambodia and Viet Nam. The work included financial evaluation of individual projects and advice on funding approaches within an Asian Development Bank funded framework.
