Turkish power sector institutions for which PWSC reviewed investment planning and proposed modelling frameworks.
PWSC assisted the Turkish Ministry of Energy & Natural Resources and the Turkish Electricity Authority as part of wider power sector reform efforts. In the mid-1980s PWSC helped formulate a national water resources management system for hydropower, irrigation, flood control and water supply. Later, in 1997–1998, PWSC reviewed power sector investment plans and planning methodologies, and proposed requirements for computer modelling and optimisation to support operation of a privatised national power generation system and associated databases. These studies informed Turkey’s transition toward a more market-oriented electricity sector.
