In 1997–1998 PWSC supported the Ministry of Industry & Handicraft in Lao PDR on an Asian Development Bank funded study. The work involved sizing and implementing candidate hydropower projects to meet forecast demands on supply networks operated by Electricité du Laos up to around 2020 at least cost, taking account of export opportunities and participation by independent power producers. PWSC’s optimisation models were used to identify economical development sequences consistent with national and regional objectives.
