Brazilian ministry for which PWSC advised on restructuring, modelling needs and grid procedures.
Between 1996 and 1998 PWSC supported the Brazilian Ministry of Mines & Energy during restructuring of the national power sector. Work included reviewing investment planning and operation methodologies for the integrated hydro-thermal system, defining modelling and optimisation requirements for the future privatised national power generation system and marginal cost determination, and drafting grid procedures for long, medium and short-term operations planning. The assignment also addressed information transfer and database needs to support the new market structure.
